Lifetime Care Cats
Disabled does not mean disposable.
Sometimes, the trauma a kitten has endured or the complexity of their condition means they need a very specific kind of environment—one we are uniquely equipped to provide. In 2024, we launched our Lifetime Care Program for kittens with profound medical or special needs. To us, these cats aren't "unadoptable"; they are family. This program is our promise that they will always have access to expert veterinary care, daily rehabilitation, and a safe haven where they are celebrated exactly as they are, for as long as they live.
Meet Our Forever Fosters
Rufus
Rufus is paralyzed and incontinent due to a traumatic spinal injury that occurred before he arrived into our care. He arrived at just 5 weeks old, and he is now 3 years old. He requires daily specialized care and is the happiest, most social, most loving kitty. He lives with BKR Founder/Director, Caroline.
Milly
Milly received a ventriculoperitoneal shunt to treat her congential hydrocephalus when she was 5 months old. She requires annual check-ups with the neurologist who performed her shunt surgery to make sure it is working correctly. She is now 3 years old and living the most joyful, most beautiful life with her incredible Forever Foster parents, Angela & Fred.
Elphaba
Elphaba is paralyzed & incontinent due to a traumatic spinal injury that occurred before she came into our care. Additionally, she has 2 small heart defects and battles recurring urinary tract infections. She requires daily specialized care and regular speciality vet visits to manage her health conditions. She is 3 years old and resides with BKR Vice President, Pei.
Glinda
Glinda is paralyzed & incontinent due to a traumatic spinal injury that occurred before she came into our care. She wears leg wraps to prevent her from self-mutilating her legs. She requires daily specialized care and is the sweetest, most chill, happiest girl. She resides with BKR Vice President, Pei.
